the importance of a breeder domain name and why you should buy yours today
Once a domain name is purchased by someone else, it is off the market. So it is crucial that you purchase your domain name, even if you aren't ready for a breeder website design.

Just like real estate, the online world has its own valuable properties known as domain names. As a breeder, having a strong online presence is crucial, and your domain name is the foundation of your online identity. Let’s talk about the significance of breeder domain names and why it’s essential to secure yours as soon as possible.

The Power of Domain Names

Domain names are like the addresses of the digital world. They provide a unique identity to your breeder website, making it easier for potential customers to find you. A well-chosen domain name not only helps establish your brand but also contributes to your website’s credibility and visibility.

When it comes to breeder domain names, dot coms are considered prime real estate. Just like the most sought-after properties in a desirable location, dot com domain names are valuable and highly coveted. They are the first choice for many businesses, including cat and dog breeders, due to their familiarity and universal recognition.

While dot coms are the gold standard, dot net domain names come in as a close second. They are often seen as a viable alternative when the ideal dot com domain is already taken. While not as prestigious as a dot com, dot net domains still carry credibility and are recognized by internet users.

The Risk of Delaying Your Domain Purchase

Now, you might be thinking, “I don’t have a website yet, so why should I worry about buying a domain name?” This is where the analogy to real estate becomes crucial. Just like a dream property that is on the market; your breeder domain names can be snatched up by someone else if you delay your purchase.

Once a domain name is purchased by someone else, it’s off the market. And unless the new owner decides to sell it, it’s unlikely to be available again. This can be devastating for breeders who have invested time and effort in building their brand, only to find that their desired domain name is no longer within reach.

Furthermore, if someone buys your desired domain name for their own business, it can lead to confusion among potential customers. They may stumble upon the wrong website, thinking it’s your breeder website, ultimately tarnishing your brand and credibility.

Securing Your Breeder Domain Name

Now that we understand the importance of breeder domain names, it’s time to take action. Even if you’re not immediately ready to build your website, securing your domain name should be a top priority. By doing so, you protect your online identity, ensure brand consistency, and maintain control over your digital presence.

When selecting a domain name, consider one that reflects your breeder brand and is easy to remember. Avoid excessively long or complicated names that may confuse potential customers. Also avoid using keywords or phrases that are commonly misspelled or difficult to spell (unfortunately, this might include your last name). Remember, brevity and clarity are key.

Once you’ve chosen your domain name, head over to a reputable domain registrar and complete the purchase. It’s a straightforward process that typically involves searching for the availability of your desired domain name, selecting a registration period, and providing your contact information. Prices may vary, but the peace of mind that comes with securing your breeder domain name is priceless. Once you have purchased your domain name, you will need to renew it annually or with each registration period you chose in order to keep it in your ownership. Pay close attention to emails from your domain name provider, and as a safe backup, keep a valid credit or debit card on your account and set your breeder domain name to auto-renew to avoid losing your property.

Don’t Lose a Crucial Part of Your Brand to Someone Else

Just as prime real estate offers an ideal location for your dream home, a well-chosen breeder domain name serves as the foundation for your online presence and as an address for your cattery or dog kennel website design. Dot coms and dot nets are the preferred choices in the breeder industry, but securing any domain name that aligns with your brand is crucial.

Don’t delay in purchasing your breeder domain name. Act now to ensure your online identity remains intact and your brand stands strong. Remember, in the digital world, the early bird catches the worm, or in this case, the perfect domain name. It is essential that you purchase your domain name even if you aren’t ready for a cat or dog breeder website design just yet.

what is a domain name for my dog kennel website design

If you are new to owning a website or in process of having a cattery web design or dog kennel website built, you may have heard the term domain name. You may be wondering exactly what domain names are, so let’s talk about that.

There are 3 separate components of a web page, which are very often confused with one another. They are the domain name, the website, and website hosting. Each is required to have a functioning website that is available for internet viewers to visit and also to see in the search engine results of any the search engines, such as Google and Bing.

The domain name is the technical term for your website URL. It is how internet users locate you. If you think of the website as your dog kennel business home, your domain name would be the address to get there. Our domain name here is BreederDesigns.com.

Domain Names Are Like Real Estate

Domain names are often compared to real estate. Once a domain name is bought up, it is no longer on the market. I own BreederDesigns.com and pay an annual fee to own it. No one can purchase this domain name, since I am the owner. The only way my domain name can be legally acquired is through purchasing directly from me, or if I was to allow my domain name ownership to expire (or miss payments). At that time, a domain registry would make it available for sale to the public. This is why it is important for breeders to go ahead and grab up their domain name while it is available – even if they are not quite ready for a breeder website just yet. If you don’t get it, someone else will… especially if you already have a good social media presence. Individuals and businesses will often buy these domain names up, with the intent of selling it to the business for a premium domain name price, which significantly higher than the fee that a domain name registry (such as Godaddy or Name Cheap) charges.

Domain Name Extensions

A domain name extension is the letters following the final period in your domain name address. For example, .com is a domain name extension. Currently, there are nearly 300 different domain name extensions, and new ones popping up every day. Domain name extensions aren’t just random letters. They do indicate a meaning. For example, .com indicates a commercial organization, .org indicates an organization or nonprofit, and .net indicates a network. A .com domain name is the most popular, and always the better choice over all of those extensions. The .net domain name extension is the second best. Some domain name extensions such as (but not limited to) .gov, .edu, and .uk are restricted. Purchasers must show verification of the government entity, the education organization, or UK residency to purchase domains with these extensions.

The Importance of Choosing the Right Domain Name

Selecting the right domain name for your cattery website or dog kennel website design is a crucial decision. Your domain name represents your online identity, and it’s the first impression potential customers will have of your business. A well-chosen breeder domain name should be easy to remember, relevant to your business, and ideally include keywords related to your industry. It can significantly impact your website’s visibility in search engines, making it easier for pet enthusiasts to find you. Take your time to brainstorm and research domain name options to ensure it aligns with your branding and helps establish your presence in the competitive online landscape.

Now that you have a good understanding of what a domain name is, you can see if your domain name is available for purchase by clicking the banner below (note – if it is available, it will be available in all domain name registries; likewise, if it is not available in one registry, it will not be available for purchase in any of them (very similar to real estate!).
